BMW M62 is a naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine which was produced from 1995 to 2005.[1] A successor to the BMW M60, the M62 features an aluminium engine block[2] and a single row timing chain.[3]
In 1998, a Technical Update included VANOS (variable valve timing) for the intake camshafts.
The M62 is a DOHC engine with four valves per cylinder, an aluminum block and aluminum heads. The M62 has fracture-split forged connecting rods,[4] hypereutectic pistons with ferrous coated side skirts. Most of the M62 engines used Alusil for the block material,[5] however some early M62 engines used Nikasil cylinder coating instead.[6][7]
Alusil technology integrates silicon throughout the aluminum cast so that liners or treated bores within this block family are not needed.
The M62 uses a Bosch Motronic 5.2 engine control unit (also called "DME")[8] and a hot wire MAF.[9]
Technical Update
In 1998, a "Technical Update" was applied to the M62, resulting in the M62TU variants. New features include single-VANOS (variable valve timing for the intake camshaft) and electronic throttle control. The engine management was updated to Motronic ME7.2

To solve this and save you the extra door to door costs we ship to the nearest trucking terminal to you.
We will strap the engine to a skid, secure and wrap it for the journey.
We deliver it to the trucking company who takes it directly to one their terminals close to you.
You can track the item as it moves and will be notified where and when it is ready to be picked up.
Most facilities are open 24/7 and they will load it for you; you will need a pick up or cargo van to transport it home.
You can also make arrangements with them to do the final delivery for you to your location or garage doing the installation for you.
Remember, once you get the call you have 48 hours to pick up or it will be returned to us with no refunds.
International, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alaska are all treated the same. We charter a container and ship the engine to the nearest available dock closest to your location.
You retrieve it there. We ship world wide. Remember there is a war on, a Pandemic, skilled labour shortage and cargo has been hit the hardest by all of these.
We do our best to make it as painless as possible but do not have any control or influence at the arrival ports, customs houses or bonded warehouses.
We do have local agents that will help you navigate it all and assist with any paperwork and try to get you in and out as quickly as possible.
Newfoundland; we suggest picking up in New Brunswick or Nova Scotia.
Canada we try to use Manitoulin Transport or Day and Ross.
USA we try to use YRC Yellow freight (they have by far the most terminals in the USA).
For Hawaii we will ship to the Port of LA or Long Beach for the ferry to Hawaii - You will have to make arrangements for the final leg.
For Alaska we suggest picking up in Anchorage or Valdez.
