THIS TRANSMISSION IS ONLY A DIRECT REPLACEMENT FOR THE VEHICLES LISTED BELOW.
NOTE: this is an "e" transmission. it can be used on an 'i" engine. However; the linkage and drive shaft MAYBE DIFFERENT.
YOU EITHER HAVE TO SWAP OUT THE BACKS OF THE TRANSMISSIONS SO THE LINKAGE WILL WORK OR FIND THE CORRECT "e" FLYWHEEL, "e" CLUTCH, "e" SHIFTER LINKAGE AND "e" DRIVE SHAFT.
HAVE A GOOD HARD LOOK AT THE REAR OF THIS UNIT. THE LINKAGE AND DRIVE SHAFT ARE NOT THE SAME AS THE LATER 325i. IT TAKES A PROP SHAFT SO THE LIKAGE HAS TO ACOMODATE IT.
SO IF YOU HAVE A LATER E30 325i THIS IS THE SAME UNIT INTERNALLY BUT THE CASE, ESPECIALLY THE REAR, IS DIFFERENT.
iF YOU HAVE AN AUTOMATIC AND ARE LOOKING FOR A SWAP YOU NEED TO FIND THE LINKAGE AND DRIVESHAFT FOR A 1985 E30 325e MANUAL.
IT IS NOT THE SAME AS THE "i". UNLESS YOUR 325i HAS A PROP SHAFT THEN IT SHOULD BE COMPATIBLE.
IF YOU HAVE AN 325i AND WANT TO USE THIS TRANSMISSION YOU DO NOT NEED THE FLYWHEEL PICKUPS - THEY ARE ONLY FOR THE "e" ENGINE COMPUTER, SO SIMPLY CUT THE WIRES.
IF YOU HAVE AN 325e YOU NEED TO ATTACH THESE WIRES TO THEIR PROPER PLACE IN THE HARNESS.
NON E30 AND M3 SWAP:
IF YOU WANT TO USE THIS TRANSMIISION IN AN DIFFERENT APPLICATION LIKE S14 M3 OR ANOTHER CAR WITH AN S14 - IT WILL WORK SEAMLESSLY.
- YOU WILL NEED TO FIND THE COMPONENTS TO ATTACH THE MECHANICAL SPEEDO IF YOU NEED IT AND MATCH THE SHIFTER LINKAGE OF THE E30 M20B27 1985 325e.
